Research Supervisor of the Year
The Research Supervisor of the Year Award will this year be presented to Christine Räisänen, Professor of Organisation and Communication at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She is exemplary in her role as a supervisor, the PhD students consider.
Christine Räisänen is an experienced researcher and supervisor who supports the PhD students and encourages them in a variety of ways. As a supervisor, she reflects on her approach to research and how she can share her experience with both students and colleagues. This is achieved by requesting feedback, by being active as a mentor and running workshops to help her colleagues develop in their role of supervisor.
As a supervisor, Christine Räisänen is generous with her time. She has excellent insight into the day-to-day work of the PhD students and the problems they face as researchers. She is particularly mindful of their personal development and well-being. When the students present their problems she attempts to look at them in depth and listen before providing advice – often by proposing specific literature, making comments and offering personal reflections – all delivered following careful thought.
In summary, Christine Räisänen is an committed, motivated and meticulous supervisor, who guides and supports the PhD students through the whole research process in a manner that is carefully considered and executed. Christine Räisänen is exemplary in her role as a supervisor at Chalmers.
