Kuggen can be the building of the year

The spectacular building Kuggen is one of the nominated contributions to the World Architecture Festival, 2-4 November in Barcelona, in the category "Learning".

Kuggen is a new building for innovation and entrepreneurship on Campus Lindolmen designed by Sweden's most successful architects, Gert Wingårdh.

The five-storey building with it's special characteristics is named after its external gearwheel like form. The goal was to create an innovative environment with new meeting places for students, teachers, researchers and the business community. The building also shows new advances in building materials and how to save energy.

- Kuggen is a magnet, attracting students, businesspeople and the public to see exhibitions on the ground floor, says Niklas Wahlberg, president of the Lindholmen Science Park. On the second floor there is a walkway to the buildings on Lindholmspiren in one direction and to the Jupiter building on Campus Lindholmen in the other. The building grows outward the higher you go, and houses facilities for business and research.
