Degrees awarded at Chalmers

The education system in Sweden is divided into three cycles: first cycle (undergraduate/Bachelor's), second cycle (postgraduate/Master's) and third cycle (postgraduate/doctoral – PhD). Chalmers University of Technology offer study programmes within these three cycles, which all leads to the internationally recognised degrees below. The language of instruction is found within parentheses.

Second cycle level - Postgraduate degrees

  • Master of Architecture (Arkitekt) (120 credits, Swedish/English)
  • Master of Science (120 credits, English)*
  • Master of Architecture (Arkitektexamen, 300 credits)(Swedish/English)
  • Master of Science in Engineering (Civilingenjör, 300 credits) (Swedish/English)
* Please note that the degree Master of Science (120 credits) does not correspond to a Master of Architecture (Arkitektexamen, 300 credits) or a Master of Science in Engineering (Civilingenjör, 300 credits).

Third cycle level - Professional degrees

  • Licentiate
  • Doctor of Philosophy
