The academic year

The academic year at Chalmers starts in August and ends in June the following year. The academic year consists of two semesters, Autumn (August– December) and Spring (January–June). The exact dates may vary from one year to another.
Each semester is then divided into two study periods with 7 weeks of lectures followed by one week of examinations. There are also three re-sit opportunities during the year.

Important - the day of enrolment
3 September is the day of enrolment 2012. You have to attend the mandatory registration in person and please be prepared to show a valid passport for identification purposes.
Please note that your study place will be cancelled if you do not attend the enrolment day. The offer of admission is valid only up until this set date.

Autumn semester: Monday September 3, 2012 - Sunday January 20, 2013
Spring semester: Monday January 21, 2013 - Tuesday June 4, 2013

Public Swedish holidays are not scheduled. Besides, at Chalmers Easter Eve, friday following Ascension Day, Midsummer's Eve, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are equivalent to holidays. On the following days, ordinary working hours are reduced by four hours (half working day): Walpurgis Eve, the day before All Hallow's Eve and 23 December. Such working free time shall not be scheduled.
