If you, for reasons beyond your control, will be unable to attend the mandatory Enrolment Day, you must apply for postponed enrolment. You are not granted an approval until an approval is sent in writing (mail or email) by Chalmers Admissions. The application must be submitted as soon as you are made aware of the reason, or no later than one week before the Enrolment Day.
Check key dates Two main conditions must be fulfilled
1. You were not able to influence the underlying causes.
2. The reason that you wish to apply for a postponement must have arisen after the application deadline. The only circumstance under which an exception to this rule is made is when a student’s employer refuses to grant him/her a leave of absence.
Note
Any requests during the last week before the day of enrolment must be addressed directly to the Admissions without further delay, by e-mail. Applications received after the mandatory day of enrolment will be consider invalid. Admission is only valid up to the day of enrolment - if you do not participate in the registration session during this day, your admission will be cancelled.
Having scheduled a trip that is to be conducted after the beginning of the autumn term is not a valid reason for postponement.
How to apply for postponed enrolment
Include your personal data (date of birth YYMMDD, name and the application number from universityadmissions.se) and state your reasons for applying in an email. Attach any documents you might have to support your postponement application and send it to Chalmers Admissions:

Approvals
Approvals will be sent in writing (mail or email) by Chalmers Admissions. The decision is only valid until the date stipulated in the approval. Students who are granted postponed enrolment will receive information regarding the new date and location of their mandatory enrolment in the approval decision. The postponement may be granted for a maximum of 12 days.
Deferment of studies to the next academic year
Under certain circumstances it is possible to defer the start of your studies to the next academic year.
Deferment of studies cannot be granted for reasons concerning your current economic situation, including not being granted a scholarship etc.
Applications received after the mandatory day of enrolment will not be processed. Admission is only valid until the day of enrolment. If you do not participate in the registration session during this day, your admission will be forfeit.
