Everything they said - my professors, the Chalmers alumni, everyone is right! Everything is true! I am sure I have made the right choice.
Abdulrahman is a Saudi Arabian student pursuing his masters in Electric Power Engineering at Chalmers after having received the scholarship award from the ABB Saudi Arabia Higher Education Scholarship Program.
Chalmers! Nowhere else!
"The career day at King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals was a defining day for me" says Abdulrahman as he narrates how he decided to that Chalmers Was the place for him and no where else. The combination of an all paid scholarship from ABB Saudi Arabia and a university as highly reputed as Chalmers was iresistable to him. "When I went to my professors and asked them for their opinion about Chalmers, they were surprised. 'It is Chalmers we are talking about! There is no need to check anything!', they told me."
"Meeting former Chalmers students who were current ABB employees was another thing that sealed the deal for me" he says. During the career day, meeting Chalmers Alumni who had nothing but praise for the university was something that pushed Abdulrahman to choose Chalmers.
Teamwork = Responsibility + Learning from each other!
"Everything they said - my professors, the Chalmers alumni, everyone is right! Everything is true! I am sure I have made the right choice. Until now, I have no regrets and I am very happy for my decision." he says as he thinks about his decision and why he chose Chalmers and Sweden instead of other places.
Discussing the differences between the university where he completed his bachelors studies and Chalmers, he says "This place is completely different from KFUPM. There is lesser work here because of the team work. So you learn to be responsible. We learn from each other. The biggest difference is that Chalmers has made my studies interesting."
I don't feel like a stranger here.
As the interview rolled onto subjects of comfort and lifestyle, he is quick to point out that he feels at home. "I don't feel like a stranger here. The people are very friendly. I am in a good city. Not too big, not too small. It's my first tim seeing snow so I love it. Like I said, they were completely right about everything they said about Chalmers." He is has realised that his interest lies in research and academic as opposed to industry. But he is also keen to point out that, it is too early to say anything about his future. We wish him all the best and hope that all his dreams come true.
