Key dates and deadlines

This is an overview of important dates throughout the application process, up to the beginning of your Master’s studies.
The dates below may be subject to change

The application period for Master’s programmes starting in autumn 2022

18 October 2021 - 17 January 2022 - Submit your application!
The online application service portal is open. Open an account and choose programmes/university at or (application deadline at midnight CET).
The application period for Master's programmes opens for national and international students.

18 October 2021 - 1 February 2022 - If required, pay the application fee
Above is the deadline for providing proof of being exempted (EU/EEA citizens etc.) or paying the application fee. If required, pay the application fee of 900 SEK (Swedish kronor) to Note, one or the other is required in order for your application to be processed. The fee is an non-refundable administrative fee.

Late November 2021 - 19 January 2022 - Apply for a scholarship
Application for scholarships administered by Chalmers University of Technology is a separate application process.
Take note, the SI scholarships are not administered by Chalmers.

19 - 25 January - Chalmers Specific Entry Requirement Form
Chalmers admissions will provide a unique personal link to this form via e-mail. You may have to check your spam-folder/junk- E-mail!
You can only submit it once and do not rush it. This form will facilitate the assessment and processing of your application bu tis not mandatory. It is sent to applicants for all programmes with the exemption of 2: Design and Construction Project Management and Entrepreneurship and Business Design. Further information is available in section 4 of the list of documentation specific to Chalmers

1 February 2022 - The deadline for all supporting documentation
No documents should be sent directly to Chalmers University of Technology.
The list of required documents is specific to Chalmers and applies to all applicants including those with a Swedish personal identity number and/or Swedish citizenship.
If a project portfolio is a prerequisite for the programme you are applying to, this deadline applies too. The instructions specific to project portfolios are listed at section 7 at the page Required documents.

7 April 2022 - Publication of the official Notification of Selection Results
The Notification of Selection Results from university admissions is available online as a printable PDF file, so no hard copy is sent by regular mail. The print-out serves as the official document and should be used when you need to present an official copy of your selection results.

11-14 April - Chalmers Pre-Departure Week
The week after the Notification of Selection Results, we will host a digital Pre-Departure Week for all admitted master's students where you'll get to know Chalmers better. We will focus on a new relevant topic every day, to help you prepare for your studies. An email with information will be sent after 7 April exclusively to students admitted to Chalmers (we will send it to the email address you used when you applied on

8 - 28 April 2022 - Late applications may be submitted if the programme has vacant study places
It may be possible to submit a late application for some Master’s programmes. Note, Chalmers does not guarantee the processing of applications submitted after the general deadline, even when the application fee has been paid.
The notification of selection result is available from Mid-May.

Mid-March to early May 2022 - Scholarship Award Notifications
The Scholarship Award Notifications will be sent out (by e-mail) to all grant recipients. In order to keep your scholarship offer, you have to confirm that you accept the offered scholarship. Instructions will follow in your scholarship offer notification. Make sure to confirm by the specified deadline.
All applicants will receive an email with information regardless of whether or not they have been awarded a scholarship.
Note, this applies to scholarships administered by Chalmers University of Technology only (the SI scholarships are NOT administrated by Chalmers).

12 May 2022 - The deadline for the first instalment of the tuition fee
The first instalment of the tuition fee must have been received by Chalmers by this date (payment for the 1st semester out of 4). The invoice will be sent in April 2022.
Applicants admitted in May (from the waiting list or late applications) will have another date for the first instalment stated on the invoice.
Applies to fee-paying students only.

August/September 2022 (date not set) - Orientation Week
Welcome to Chalmers! Chalmers University of Technology and Chalmers International Reception Committee (CIRC) arrange an Orientation week for all newly enrolled students.

29 August 2022 - The first day of the autumn semester and the last date to enrol (register) online!
Studies begin!
You must have enrol by today. It is a mandatory procedure to keep the offered study place. Detailed instructions will be provided for all admitted students. Check your Notification of Selections result published at your personal account and follow the link to the Student portal. Stay updated!
