Key dates

This is an overview of important dates throughout the application process, up to the beginning of your Master’s studies. Please note: The dates below may be subject to changes and information may be added.
The application period for Master’s programmes starting in autumn 2020
16 October 2019 – 15 January 2020.

16 October 2019 - 15 January 2020 - Submit your application!
The online application service portal is open at or until 15 January 2020 (application deadline at midnight CET).
The application period for Master's programmes opens for national and international students.
Submit supporting documentation
The list of required documents is specific to Chalmers and applies to all applicants including those with a Swedish personal identity number and/or Swedish citizenship.
If required, pay the application fee of 900 SEK (Swedish kronor) to The payment must reach University Admissions by 1 February 2020, in order for your application to be processed.

Mid November 2019 - 15 January 2020 - Apply for a scholarship
The application period, and application portal, for scholarships administered by Chalmers University of Technology is opened at until 15 January 2020 (application deadline at midnight CET). Note, the SI scholarships are not administrated by Chalmers.

16 January 2020 and onwards - late application for some Master's programmes
After the 15th of January, it may still be possible to submit an application for some Master’s programmes. Any application submitted from 16th of January and onwards will be considered as a late application. Note, Chalmers does not guarantee the processing of applications submitted after the general deadline, even when the application fee has been paid.

3 February 2020 - The deadline for all supporting documentation
No documents should be sent directly to Chalmers University of Technology.
Applicants with degrees from Swedish universities must fulfill all requirements, no later than by the above date, i.e. the results may be achieved no later than by this date. The results may, however, be formally registered in Ladok up to 20 February.

3 February 2020 - The deadline for the application fee
The deadline for proving your fee exemption status (EU/EEA citizens etc) or paying the application fee via Note, one or the other is required in order for your application to be processed.

3 April 2020 - Publication of the official Notification of Selection Results
The Notification of Selection Results from university admissions is available online as a printable PDF file, so no hard copy is sent by regular mail. The print-out serves as the official document and should be used when you need to present an official copy of your selection results.

March to early May 2020 - Scholarship Award Notifications
The Scholarship Award Notifications will be sent out (by e-mail) to all grant recipients. In order to keep your scholarship offer, you have to confirm that you accept the offered scholarship. Instructions will follow in your scholarship offer notification. Make sure to confirm by the specified deadline.
All applicants will receive an email with information regardless of whether or not they have been awarded a scholarship.
Note, this applies to scholarships administered by Chalmers University of Technology only (the SI scholarships are not administrated by Chalmers).

17 May 2020 - The deadline for the first instalment of the tuition fee
The first instalment of the tuition fee must have been received by Chalmers by this date (payment for the 1st semester out of 4). This applies to fee-paying students only.
Last week of August 2020 - Welcome and Orientation Week
Welcome to Chalmers! Chalmers University of Technology and Chalmers International Reception Committee (CIRC) arrange a Welcome and Orientation Week for all new students.

August/September 2020 - The last day to register and the first day of the autumn semester
This is the 1st day of the autumn semester 2020 for all programmes at Chalmers. Studies begin!
You must have registered online no later than the specified date in August/September 2020 (specific date will be updated). To register online is mandatory in order to keep the offered study place. Detailed instructions will be provided for all admitted students. Check your Notification of Selections result published at your personal account and follow the link to the Student portal. Stay updated!
