The purpose of a thesis is to enable the student to develop deeper knowledge, understanding, capabilities and attitudes in the context of the programme of study. The thesis should be written at the end of the programme and offers the opportunity to delve more deeply into and synthesise knowledge acquired in previous studies. A thesis for a Master of Science in Engineering/Master of Architecture or Master of Science programmes should place emphasis on the technical/scientific/artistic aspects of the subject matter.
The degree project is performed at a company
Responsibility for arranging thesis work lies with the students
The degree project is carried out in pairs (individually - only in exceptional cases)
The degree project comprises 30 credits during study period 3 and 4
Students must have obtained at least 225 credits/45 credits before starting the thesis
As well as the general credit requirements, the courses provided necessary prior knowledge for the specific thesis shall have been completed
Process
- Apply on the TME website
- A description of thesis
(describe the project as accurately as possible to facilitate the decision-making process)
- Names and contact details of companies and supervisors at the company
- State the courses that are relevant for the degree project (course code and course name)
- TME returns to students with the names of assigned supervisor/examiner (latest before start of study period 3)
- The students will be contacted by an administrator who will support with formal registration of the master’s thesis course (at the latest before start of study period 3)
- Presentation and opposition at Campus Johanneberg in May/June
- The examiner/supervisor (TME) decide when the group is ready for presentation
- Attendance at the presentation and defense of two other theses
