Käll Group

The Käll group is engaged in basic and applied research in nanophotonics and biophotonics, and in particular in the combination of the two (i.e. "bionanophotonics"). Current projects primarily deals with the physics and applications of resonant nanoantennas and metasurfaces made from nobel metals and/or high index dielectrics. We use both advanced lithography, for example as e-beam lithography, and wet-chemistry synthesis methods to fabricate samples. We focus on nanostructures that interacts strongly with visible and near-infrared light, which make them useful for enhancing molecular spectroscopy (as in surface-enhanced Raman scattering - SERS), for nanoscale optical biosensing (as in localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) sensing) and for optical manipulation using laser tweezers.
