​Thesis title: A telegraph model for extension fluctuations of nano-confined DNA molecules

Abstract:
When a DNA polymer is put in a confined space, the polymer folds, creating hairpin conformations. This folding is of interest in the context of DNA sequencing, where the folding can lead to sequencing errors. In this report I evaluate the conformations of confined polymers using a particular model, the telegraph model. In this model the conformations are modeled as correlated random walks with a bias against hairpins.
