A main idea behind the centre's role and work is to form a broad, international, and well networked mathematics and stochastics basis in close collaboration with other disciplines and with industry which can, and will, make a difference.
The centre aims at creating a new integrated structure for advances over a broad front, and of a kind which would not be possible without it. A cornerstone is the intimate collaboration between Chalmers and the Fraunhofer-Chalmers Research Centre for Industrial Mathematics (FCC).
Our main way of working is in flexible and shifting collaborations, over subject and country boundaries. We will provide a structure where skills from one area of GMMC rapidly can be brought to bear on problems in other areas, for example by temporarily associating researchers from one group to another one. Work will be performed in research teams around three themes:
- Optimisation and modelling
- Risk, Reliability, Quality
