Professor Bengt Lennartson elected as a Fellow of IEEE

From January 2017 Bengt Lennartson is IEEE Fellow for his contributions to hybrid and discrete event systems for automation and sustainable production.

IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership in the world’s largest technical professional organization, given to persons with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest.

Bengt says that his two main results that motivate this grade are a computational method to perform stability analysis of hybrid systems, something he developed together with one of his first PhD students Stefan Peterson 20 years ago, and energy optimization of robot systems that was initiated by General Motors six years ago, and recently was implemented together with Kuka and Daimler in the EU project AREUS.
