From PhD in Clinical Nutrition to Professor in Food Science

Welcome to a WiSE seminar with professor Ann-Sofie Sandberg from the Division of Food and Nutrition Science, Department of Biology and Biological Engineering, Chalmers

Ann-Sofie Sandberg´s presentation will focus on her career from a young PhD student to a professor, in prosperity and adversity, and her chances to move forward in the Academy.
Ann-Sofie´s research has focused on different areas: her PhD at the medical faculty on dietary fibre, then continuing to bioavailability of minerals and when moving to Chalmers also including processing effects on nutrient bioavailability and from the year 2000 building up research on marine bioactive compounds and metabolic disease and later food factors influencing immune and allergy development in infants. Development of advanced biological and analytical methods to measure nutrition is of great importance, and she has therefore recently introduced metabolomics and systems biology in nutrition research in collaboration with experts in the field.
Ann-Sofie will tell her story from a woman’s perspective and give examples from her own academic life, with the intention to discuss how to improve the chances for women to do career in the Academy today together with the audience.

During the seminar we offer lunch. Register at the latest by Thursday 23 February, 2017.
