Dependable Computing in Practice – Success Stories and Future Challenges

Can we trust computers to control critical systems? In this seminar, speakers from industry and academia will share their experiences and discuss challenges in designing computer systems for critical applications, such as autonomous road vehicles, airplanes and space missions.
The seminar is dedicated to professor emeritus Jan Torin, who celebrated his 80th birthday in June this year. Jan was a professor of computer engineering at Chalmers from 1984 to 2001, where he founded the dependable computing research lab. He successfully supervised 20 doctoral students, four of whom are speakers at this seminar. Prior to joining Chalmers, he work at Saab Space (now Ruag Space) where he led the development of on-board computers for the Ariane launchers and several satellites.
