This theme deals with metals in the diet, and how the dietary/intestinal levels of metals in their different forms, affect the biology of cells in the aspect of enzymatic changes that may lead to/promote conditions such as colon cancer, autoimmune disorders such as celiac disease, or other inflammatory diseases. Pursuing the research, we are using human cell lines in combination with a plethora of molecular biological techniques to investigate intra/intercellular events.
