The
Division for Language and Communication engages in teaching and research in
technical communication and scientific writing, and the relationship between
communication and learning.
The division is active in
Chalmers undergraduate, masters, and postgraduate education and also provides
assignments and courses for teachers and researchers. The division’s education
assignments at Chalmers include courses and integrated subject-based
communication activities in academic and technical writing and various forms of
technical and scientific communication. Central to the division’s work is for courses
and activities, which are conducted in Swedish and English, to be developed, as
far as possible, in cooperation with discipline representatives and program managers
in order to best support the discipline-specific writing and learning.
The division also houses Chalmers Writing Centre (CWC) where students can book writing
tutorials with trained peer tutors. CWC is available on both Chalmers campuses
and supervision is provided in Swedish and English. Students can also book a time
at CWC to, for example, practice or help prepare an oral presentation.
Our research
The
division's research deals with subjects in both language and education, such as
integration between language training and learning, genre pedagogy, and aspects
of English as a medium of instruction
(EMI). Read more about our specialist research and publications on each
respective employee’s page.
The
division’s employees are involved in a number of collaboration and research
projects, national and international networks, and internal projects at
Chalmers.
