When?:
Wednesday 26 June, 12.30 - 19.00
Forty-five minutes north from Gothenburg, in the finest part of
the western Archipelago, lies the beautiful island of Marstrand. Apart from its
beautiful location along the rocky Swedish coast, this place is particularly
worth a visit because of its caves and the seventeenth-century `Carlstens
Fortress'. Incidentally, it has been rumored that it is one of John's
favorite places near Gothenburg.
As the conference excursion, we will make a trip to Marstrand.
After the scientific morning program of the Wednesday, two buses will travel
along the West-Swedish coast-line towards the island of Marstrand. After a
short ride on the ferry, you will have the opportunity to explore the
islands very fine hiking paths that will take you across the island. Also, we
have booked a guided tour through Carlstens Fortress.
Other things to do on the island, is to take a walk through the
`old-town' of Marstrand, with its many shops and coffee (fika) houses. We will
arrive back in Gothenburg around 19:00. Please see the following links for more
