CAM2 Spring School 2020

During a week in April 2020, CAM2 offers a Spring School with a combination of lectures, industrial tours and project work. In this course you get a basic understanding of additive manufacturing (AM) as the industrial method for prototyping and manufacture of advanced metal parts.

When: 1-3 April 2020

Where: Chalmers University of Technology, Campus Johanneberg, Virtual Development Lab, Chalmers Tvärgata 4C. Study visit at Arcam Academy, Designvägen 2, Mölnlycke

The aim of this seminar is to establish basic understanding of additive manufacturing (AM) as the industrial method for prototyping and manufacture of advanced metal parts.

The course covers:

  • Overview of AM technologies

  • Pre- and Post-AM treatment

The main focus is placed on powder bed metal additive manufacturing technologies, covering hardware design, powder properties, material properties and post-processing. The course will include an industrial tour to Arcam Academy and hands-on experience on laser powder bed fusion processes.

The seminar includes a lecture series that covers introduction to different AM technologies and resulting material properties. A number of guest lecturers from industry (manufacturers of AM equipment and manufacturers of AM parts) will be offered.

There will be a study visit to Arcam Academy, offering insight into metal AM in real industrial production.

Besides the lecture series, a number of tutoring events/exercises/practical sessions will be held. During these events, you will be trained on design/process preparation for polymer and metal AM, AM processing knowledge, critical aspects of materials technology in AM and AM applications.

Full attendance is required.
