3D imaging of nanostructured gels
The aim of the project is to utilize tomography in the transmission electron microscope (TEM) to determine 3D structures in nanostructured soft materials. Detailed knowledge of the three-dimensional microstructure at the nanometer level in soft nanostructured gels will be crucial for the design of new soft biomaterials with tailor-made diffusion and controlled release properties.

Dynamic ESEM and TEM studies of supramolecular biomaterials
The main objective of the project is to study structurally heterogeneous biomaterials and transient structures during wetting and consecutive swelling and also to determine the transport mechanisms at different length scales. The main analysis methods for these studies are different in situ microscopy techniques including environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
