Chalmers University of Technology is, since 1994, a private university, owned by the Chalmers University of Technology Foundation. The activities at Chalmers University of Technology (hereafter called Chalmers) is governed by a long-term agreement with the Swedish government, supplemented by annual agreements.

The Chalmers University of Technology Foundation manages the foundation capital and its investments. The foundation appoints Chalmers external board members in the University Board.

The University Board is responsible for approving and monitoring strategic decisions and activities. Under the University board, the President and CEO, is responsible for the overall operational activities.

The University Management Group
is responsible for ensuring that areas of activity interact and that Chalmers' role and contribution to society continues to evolve.
