Chalmers is looking for you who would like new challenges in Silicon Valley. The area is one of the most vibrant and creative areas in the world. For a period of 12 months you will get the opportunity to do an internship in a company based in Silicon Valley.
DESCRIPTION
Silicon Valley is one of the most vibrant and creative areas in the world. The unique ecosystem in Silicon Valley provides opportunities for those who are willing to challenge themselves. For a period of up to 12 months starting in August 2012 you will get the opportunity to work and live in the most creative and entrepreneurial environments in the world. During a part of your time – normally 80% - you will work for your internship partner which in 2012-2013 is Power Assure. For the rest of your time, you will work with the Chalmers foundation – US-Friends of Chalmers – and its networking, collaborative and fundraising activities towards Chalmers.
STRUCTURE
The internship program will include work experience at the Internship Partner, networking and fundraising for US-friends of Chalmers
- Get professional training in an innovative company in Silicon Valley. The position with Power Assure includes working as a software engineer
- Build an understanding of Silicon Valley. Create a personal network within venture capital, startup companies and universities, especially Stanford University. This work is coordinated by US-Friends of Chalmers who works in close collaboration with Chalmers and its alumni and fundraising activity. The Stanford connection is enabled through a Chalmers student-exchange agreement with the department of Engineering and Management Science having two Chalmers students enlisted for a year from the fall 2011 and onwards.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
You should be a second year student or be graduated from masters program at Chalmers and highly fluent in the English language.
For Assure internship Software Engineering Internship, Santa Clara, CA, the following qualifications are valued:
Design/code/develop/test back-end applications for data center monitoring/integration software products using PHP and MySQL. Perform requirements analysis, design, development, testing and deployment; database design, database schema, data migration; development of stored procedures, triggers, cursors, views, joins, functions.
Perform application level optimization to ensure high availability of database. Experience should include database design & development, PHP, MySQL, Crystal Report, and some background on operating systems, server hardware and network/datacenter devices.
We are looking for 6 month internships possibly extending them to 18 month
It is considered as an additional qualification if you have experience from entrepreneurship or if you’re having an entrepreneurial ambition. The internship program will test your ability to coordinate and keep different tasks running at the same time. It is also positive if you have a few years of working experience.
