As a researcher, she holds a PhD degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Pontifical Catholic University of Parana, Brazil, and part of her doctoral research was conducted at KTH Royal Technology Institute, Sweden. She holds a MSc degree in Production Engineering, and a BSc degree in Social Communication - Public Relations at University of Sao Paulo State, Brazil. Carla is interested in sustainable operations, supply chain management, operations strategy and performance measurements in an Industry 4.0 context. She has 15 years of professional experience in industrial marketing, and as a sustainability compliance auditor having worked in Inter-IKEA implementing and verifying sustainability-related requirements at suppliers. She has 10 years of experience in teaching in undergraduation and post-graduation courses in different areas, among others: business marketing and purchasing, logistics, knowledge management, sustainable operations and performance management, research methodologies, manufacturing strategy, quality management, supply chain and production management.

​The aim of research is to contribute to the development of the Industry 4.0 agenda increasing the understanding about the links between sustainable manufacturing and industrial digitalization.
