OrganisationThe work within the Swedish Wind Power Technology Centre is carried out in project, some bigger projects that involve several theme groups and some individual projects. The purpose of the bigger projects is to coordinate the individual projects towards constructing a complete and optimal wind turbine. The daily work in the Centre is managed by the Director of the Centre, the wind power coordinator, the leaders of the theme groups and the respective project leaders. The board, which has a majority of members from the industry, decides which projects that will start. The research is carried out in six theme groups that represent construction and operation of wind turbines. These are Power and Control systems, Turbine and Wind load, Mechanical Power Transmission and System Optimisation, Structure and Foundation, Maintenance and Reliability as well as Cold climate. The work in the Centre is focused on traditional wind turbines that utilize the latest material technology and good research and production methods. Further has the importance of efficient maintenance been evident when the number of turbines increases as well as the turbines being placed in mountains and offshore. Also a suitable research area for the Centre is to work with construction issues regarding an efficient maintenance.
