Steven Robert Kirk, professor of Chemistry at Hunan Normal University, Changsha, China.
Research interests: computational and parallel programming for materials.
Steven Robert Kirk has a PhD in Computational physics from the University of Salford, UK. He did his undergraduate studies at Cambridge University in the Nature Science program. He has carried out industrial consultancies for British Nuclear fuels and Salford Software. Currently he is a professor at the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Hunan Normal University, Changsha, China. His involvement in SuMo is as a guest researcher.
His main research interest in SuMo is in the MM aspect of QM/MM simulations of cellulose and silica. This work is in close collaboration with Samantha Jenkins, Michael Persson, Magnus Nydén and Åsa Östlund.
Steven's research interests include algorithms, GPU computing and computational materials science. One on going project is the BEACON partnership with Samantha Jenkins from Hunan Normal University, Michael Persson and Joakim Carlén from Eka Chemicals AB, Manolo Teixeiro from Gridcore AB and Per Nylén from the PTC and the Knowledge Foundation on the control of aggregation of silica nano-particles. He is the project manger for the open-source QTAIM development site AIMPAC2.
