Research Interests - INNOVATION
Johan started his management research career as a M.Sc. in Biotechnology engineering with a specific interest in how small life-science based companies developed. This has in turn led to a research interest in science and technology policy as well as in entreprenurship. Johan’s research thus fits within the broader lines of innovation systems research in that it shows how technology based firms are functioning in a systematic and path dependent industrial context.
The second broad stream in Johan’s research regards the specific managerial and organizational challenges found within small, growing science based firms. Being based upon knowledge and intellectual assets, these firms have an increasingly important role to play in our modern society. In addition, Johan have also studied settings of more open innovation, including knowledge transfer, and the construction of organizational intellectual assets.
