Claes Ahlneck, Ph D, Associate Professor (Docent) in Pharmaceutical Technology, Director Science & Technology, Pharmaceutical Development, AstraZeneca, R&D.

Claes Ahlneck ´s professional background is applied research in the pharmaceutical technology. He took his PhD at Uppsala University and continued to explore moisture effects on the amorphous state as a Visiting Research Associate at University of Wisconsin in 1989. After a few years as Research Scientist at Uppsala University,  Claes took a role as Principal Research Scientist in 1992 at Astra Draco in Lund and then worked in Lund at different management positions. In 1997 he was appointed Director, Pharmaceutics – Formulation and Development .

1999-2010 following the merger between Astra and Zeneca Claes held  positions as Director, Project and Portfolio Management within Pharmaceutical Development first at Lund (SE) and Loughborough (UK), before moving to Mölndal (SE) to take on a global portfolio management role.

In 2010 Claes was appointed as Director within AstraZeneca R&D with global responsibility of the Pharmaceutical Development Science & Technology research.
