Chalmers Assistant Professor receives 1MSEK grant for women researchers

Åsa Haglund, Assistant Professor in the Optoelectronics Group receives the first distributed grant to female researchers from Hasselblad Foundation of 1 000 000 SEK. The occurrence further states the high competence of women research at Chalmers.

Åsa Haglund has – since earlier – an Assistant Professor’s funding from VR and she recently received a grant of 1 000 000 SEK from “Further research qualification for women researchers with PhDs in the natural sciences”. The grant allows Åsa to strengthen the initiated collaboration with EPFL (École Polytechnique Féderale de Lausanne) to create a new laser structure for blue emission. The grant further allows her to collaborate with other groups, through for example guest researcher visits. She will also be able to utilize infrastructure not available at Chalmers to fully characterize the blue laser structures. 
 

Chalmers’ blue laser project, led by Åsa, could in the future revolutionize several industries resulting in a high number of applications. More information about the blue laser project can be found here
