Contact and friction mechanics

Session organizer: Laura De Lorenzis, Tech. Univ. Braunschweig, Germany; Co-chair: Michele Scaraggi, Univ. of Salento, Italy

Synopsis: This session will gather contributions dealing with computational, analytical and experimental investigations on the mechanics of contact and related phenomena, such as friction and adhesion. In the computational framework, the interest is especially focused on new discretization techniques, robust and innovative solution schemes, multiscale approaches, multifield formulations, and challenging applications. Computational, analytical and experimental investigations are welcome e.g. on contact mechanics of biological interfaces, soft contacts, bio-mimetics, lubrication fundamentals, surface tribology, tribology of materials and machine elements, lubricants and additives.
