The following projects are suggestions from the team. Individual suggestions for projects are always welcome and can be discussed with the team managers.

Vera

This year the team is focusing on increasing the engine efficiency and decreasing the rolling resistance. 

• One student is needed for the work in decreasing rolling resistance. The work consists of reinforcing the front structure of the frame which is to weak. Finetuning and roll out tests should also be performed. Applications can be sent to anders.n.johansson@Chalmers.se

Bachelor thesis

The following works will run as bachelor thesis works during spring 2012.

• Experimental development of the gas exchange flow
  The purpose of this work is to develop a new engine head with increased flow. Different engine heads will be designed and manufactured in a 3D-printer. These heads will then be flow benchmarked and finally a sharp head will be manufactured for the engine.
• Development of a variable valve timing system
  The goal of this work is to develop an electro magnetic valve timing system for the engine. This valve timing system should be used in the development work for new cam profiles.

Bachelor thesis

The following works will run as bachelor thesis works during spring 2012.

• Optimization of the hybrid powertrain for a Chalmers Eco Marathon vehicle
  The purpose of this work is to optimize the powertrain in the Urban Concept vehicle for lowest fuel consumption. The powertrain, which is a series hybrid, consists of a gasoline engine that drives a generator which generates electrical energy stored in a capacitor. Then an electrocal motor take care of propulsion.
