Presentation
I was appointed professor in september 2002, within the the Division of Fluid Dynamics. My main field of interest is numerical simulation of compressible flow (CFD) and computational aero-acoustics (CAA). I have a long background in the CFD area, starting back in the late 1970:s. My focus is in general on propulsion oriented topics such as turbo-machinery flow problems, inlet flow, duct flow, combustor flow, nozzle flow, etc. Computational methods for the prediction and analysis of compressor performance including noise emissions and large-eddy simulation techniques for jet noise predictions are of special interest at the moment. Another area of interest is large-eddy simulation for combustion-related problems and also computational methods for the extraction of aero-acoustic eigenmodes. A third research area
is the exploitation of CFD methods in shape optimization problems.

On-going projects

CoJeN - Computation of Coaxial Jet Noise
This is an EU FP6 project with the overall goals of increasing knowledge about
noise generation and noise reduction mechanisms as well as validating noise
prediction tools for coaxial jets.

Modelling Unsteady Effects in Transonic Compressors
This is a nationally funded project (NFFP4 Programme) with the main goal of improving
the prediction capabilities of a standard 3D throughflow analysis tool
for compressors at off-design conditions (i.e. close to stall).

Turbomachinery Noise
This is a nationally funded project (NFFP4 Programme) with the main goal of extending an
existing computational method for tone noise to include also broadband noise. The project
also involves duct noise propagation/radiation including effects of liners.

AIDA - Aggressive Intermediate Duct Aerodynamics
This is an EU FP6 project with the overall aim of designing more 'aggressive' transition ducts
in jet engines for civil aircraft, to achieve savings of weight and specific fuel consumption.
The project involves shape optimisation based on response surfaces as well as body force modeling
of vortex generators.

HISAC
This is an EU FP6 project with the overall goals of increasing knowledge about
noise generation and noise reduction techniques as well as validating noise
prediction tools for nozzles of mixer/ejector type.

ARPIF
This is a collaboration between Chalmers, Volvo Aero Corporation, Rolls-Royce plc and Imperial College
with the goal of extending current capabiloties of Arnoldi-based aero-acoustic eigenmode extraction
techniques. Chalmers work is focused on porous wall modeling (e.g. combustor liners etc.).
