INTACT - Investigation Network and Traffic Accident Collection Techniques
Start of project
2007-01-01
End of project
2009-12-31
INTACT is a pilot project aiming at developing an effective methodology for investigating traffic accidents with personal injury. The investigations will cover all phases of the accidents (i.e. pre-crash, in-crash and postcrash) and all parts of the traffic system (i.e. human, vehicle and road environment).
Joint efforts between the vehicle industry, road authority, university and health care provide multidisciplinary competence in the field and lead to a more effective use of investigation resources.
The collected data should form a basis for safety measures reducing:
the number of accidents with personal injury
the severity of injuries in accidents
the consequence of sustained injuries in accidents
The project is divided into three phases:
Phase 1, 2007
Methodology development for investigation of pre‑crash, in-crash and post-crash phases
Pilot - Data collection and case analysis
Methodology evaluation and update
Phase 2, 2008
System development for data storage and analysis
Data collection and case analysis
Methodology evaluation and update
Phase 3, 2009
Investigation of project continuation and national expansion
