![]() Material mechanics
Knowledge concerning strength of material is a basic ingredient in the design of light and reliable products pertinent to a sustainable society. Emphasis of the division’s research in material mechanics is placed on modeling the mechanical and thermal material properties, with key competencies in continuum mechanics, fracture modeling and finite element method. A strong direction of the research is oriented towards multi-scale modeling and homogenization of the underlying material microstructure, with applications to material physics and interfaces.
