Roger Lundén is Professor in Railway Mechanics. During the years 1997-2012 he was Director of the Competence Centre CHARMEC and he is still active in the management of the centre.
 
Roger´s research focuses on Railway Mechanics with a content that in general terms corresponds to the six Programme Areas of CHARMEC, see www.chalmers.se/charmec. Important ingredients are national and international academy and industry relations, formulation of researchable and industrially relevant projects, active involvement in implementation of research results, and financing of the Centre´s activities. Scientifically, the particular field is theoretical and solid mechanics with applications in subfields such as dynamics, vibrations, material fatigue, thermal stresses, noise-related problems, contact mechanics and tribology.

Presently, Roger is principal supervisor of two doctoral students. He has published some 25 scientific journal papers and also a large number of conference articles and other reports.
