Downsized Fuel Efficient Direct Injection Ethanol Engine

Start of project 2008-01-01
End of project 2010-12-31

Investigation of possibilities to create a very fuel efficient engine with low CO2 emission by using downsizing and direct injection of neat ethanol fuel (E100). Ethanol has high octane number and high burning velocity which makes it an ideal fuel for highly boosted engines. Since ethanol is renewable that will also contribute to lower fossil CO2 emissions.
