Divisions within the department

The Department of Applied Mechanics consists of six research divisions as well as a division for administrative and technical support.

Activities cover a large scientific scope and concentrate on models and methods. These are predominantly applied within the mechanical workshop industry, although they also address the materials handling, construction, ballast and mining industries.

The character of research is both fundamental and applied. Frequently, it coincides with close co-operation that involves national as well as international industries and societies.

Comprehensive education is founded on the divergent areas of research and, in addition, upon collaboratively bridging between the different levels.
